I took the time to gather some cool stuff and insights for you — enjoy and add ideas that you find important!

The first road-show of predictions comes from builtin — an online community for startups and tech companies:

  • Remote user research becomes the norm [remote testing via Teams and figma for example]
  • Virtual whiteboarding brings more people to the table [a broader variety of participants interactivly working together: Miro, Mural are the tools to do it]
  • Prepare to be nudged, in a good way

„expect more technologists to embrace user nudges designed to promote healthier relationships with our apps and gadgets“

  • Expect more work-tech insights

„new features intended to give users more control over how they spend time at work“

  • The big virtual reality push means more avatars and 3D visualizations
  • Metaverse or no, expect online and offline lives to mesh further [e. g. livestreams of events like weddings]
  • Accessibility (further) becomes the expectation
  • Designers approach motion more responsibly
  • Typography goes big
  • Inclusive design ups gender neutrality and expands UX research [super important!]
  • UX creeps closer to AI [hellö there Wally!]

The second prediction comes from Irene B., a fellow Medium author:

  • Personalised interfaces [customizable everything]
  • Unusual screen loading

„For example, information blocks may gradually emerge one after another at intervals of several seconds or appear only after the next touch or click of the user. And, of course, why not use funny animated screens that show the user how long to wait or entertain them instead of pauses.“

  • Bright colours
Cryptocurrencies, Source: Dribbble

„(…) in recent months, bright, very bright interfaces, backgrounds and illustrations are increasingly popular“

  • Blurry, colourful backgrounds [as in every repost story of Instagram]
  • Authentic images

„The trend that transferred from web design to UX is using authentic images“

The third road-show comes from Shakuro — another fellow author on #Medium writing for the UX planet category:

  • Scrolling is dead. All hail scrollytelling

„Scrollytelling is activated when a user scrolls down, hence its name. No clicks, no hassle of choice, no pop-ups. It seems that you stay in one place, but by scrolling, the story on the screen unfolds.“

  • Users love data. Make data lovable

„remove adjectives and show facts: how many branches you have, in which cities, who are your clients, and how you helped them. Abstract information is not reliable. Facts are.“

  • Motion design

„will be an important and well-thought-out part of brand positioning in the market. Think of a new visual identity for a company — the animated identity.“

And last, but not least — the fourth prediction from #99designs:

  • Experimenting with navigation placement [this will at least be fun to watch in testing ;) ]
  • Seamless experience [„is all about creating a user experience that flows smoothly from one step to another“]
  • Voice user interface
